Paul and Julian Doroszczuk have committed themselves to the full 2018 Protyre MSA Asphalt Rally Championship and are really looking forward to getting back out on the stages following a year off in 2017.
With two events on home soil on Epynt, the chance to get back to the Isle of Man and the opportunity to fulfil a lifelong ambition to rally in Belgium, the 2018 Championship was a bit of a no brainer for the brothers.
Better known as Drockspeed Motorsport, Paul and Julian have been rallying together for over 40 years, going back to the days of the old Motoring News Road Rally Championship in the 1970s.
After several years of doing selective stage events, in 2013 they took the decision to step up to the old REIS Asphalt championship in their Group 4 Escort Mk2, determined to experience events such as the Manx and Jim Clark.
Following two reasonably successful seasons in the championship, where they finished third and second in the B11 class in both 2013 and 2014 (driver and co-driver), and the car gaining a strong following among rally fans for the standard of its preparation, 2016 saw a string of retirements early in the season leading to unfinished business.
“Our aim is to have the full craic, enjoy every round and hopefully find ourselves in a position by mid-season that we can go on and push for the Championship class win to complete the set of glassware from previous years,” says Julian.
“As always it is a big team effort and we would like to thank Alan and Craig for agreeing to service for us and to our sponsors The Sign Shop, Bathgate Edinburgh; Strathclyde Gearbox Services, Glasgow; Wheels Around Motorsport, Perthshire; for their continuing support.
