He’s better known as one of the UK’s most prolific rally co-drivers, but Dai Roberts is no mean driver either – and he’s planning to contest the Bet On Aces Manx National Rally (May 11-12) for the first time from behind the steering wheel of his rapid 1.6-litre Peugeot 205 GTI.
The 32-year old Welshman has enjoyed much success as a driver, with a class win on last year’s CRSW Brean Stages the highlight of many class podium results. Dai will be co-driven on the Manx by Stephen Christian.
“We are going to have a go against the bigger boys in their R2 cars, and we hope that with our experience we can beat them,” says Dai. “In the right conditions, we can even play with Subaru WRCs on single venue events – so we’re going to the Manx to give it a good go.
“We’re looking for sponsors and businesses who would like to help us get to the Manx National Rally – we’re not looking for big money, but enough to help towards fuel, ferry, accommodation and tyres and to let us prove that we deserve to be there. We have registered for Protyre MSA Asphalt Rally Championship to get the TV and media coverage to help all our potential sponsors.”
