Tim Waters and his son Jack are contesting this year’s Protyre MSA Asphalt Rally Championship – for Tim it marks a return to rallying after a break of more than 16 years, whilst it’s Jack very first season of competition.
The pair are contesting the series in their very rapid and different Renault Clio V6, having only recently acquiring the car. This year is very much a development year as they had never driven the car (other than onto the trailer) before the Melvyn Evans Motorsport Tour of Epynt, where they finished the event in 42nd place.
“Considering it was Jack’s first ever event, and we hadn’t driven the car, we did okay to get to the end in one piece,” said Tim. “We’re making a few tweaks ahead of the Manx National, so hopefully we should manage a few more respectable times.”
The red Renault Clio V6 certainly attracts a lot of attention, and the pair are looking to secure a sponsor for the rest of the Championship. Anyone interested should e-mail Tim at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Both would like to thank their service crew, Peter Williams and Mike Herring, and Emma for allowing such adventure and a chance to misbehave!
