Sisson returns in mighty Mitsubishi

Wayne Sisson enjoyed a fantastic 2018 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship – contesting many of the events for the first time, leading the series for much of the year and finishing runner-up in the overall drivers’ category. And now he’s back, ready to venture into more familiar territory this time in his immaculately prepared AMS Arnside Motorsport Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 10.

Co-driven by Max Freeman, Sisson was outstanding last year – never finishing lower than sixth, coming home fifth three times in a row and scoring a season-best third on the Manx National Rally.

It was only the one score to drop rule that cost Sisson a shot at the title on the final round, as he sat out the Ford Parts Cheviot Stages Rally knowing that he was unlikely to improve on his overall points tally. He could have still been champion had Jason Pritchard and Daniel Harper failed to finish the event – but Pritchard drove superbly, held his nerve and took the title!

Sisson was still crowned class B14 champion, and now he’s back – aiming to upset the World Rally Car drivers once again with some more magnificent performances.

“Many of the events I contested last year I was doing for the first time, so I now know what to expect and what each event consists of,” said Sisson.

“Last year we could of taken the championship win right up to the last stage of the last round, so I will aim for a podium position this year.”
