Pugsley’s B12 title lap of honour

Mike Pugsley and co-driver Marc Clatworthy have opened up an unassailable class lead which guarantees that the Welsh duo will retain their Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship B12 title – but that’s not going to stop them going for more glory on this Sunday’s Old Forge Garage Mewla Rally.

Their 1974 Escort Mk1 RS2000 is one of the most recognisable cars in the series, and the Bedlinog-based driver has owned the 45-year old Ford since 2013, which he prepares himself in his garage at home.

Last year he recorded four class victories and a second to win the title on 72 points, and he also finished 11th in the overall drivers’ standings. This year Mike has amassed three class wins and two seconds, and is lying a magnificent seventh overall on 81 points.

Using Hoosier tyres supplied by Protyre Motorsport, Mike will be rallying a lot closer to home this weekend – and will be out to celebrate back-to-back B12 titles!
