Geoff Glover was presented with the Tony Davies Memorial Award at the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship Gala Prizegiving on Saturday night.
The award is given to an individual who has done something special in relation to the Asphalt Rally Championship, and is awarded at the discretion of the Championship Co-ordinator, Jane Evans.
The North Yorkshire driver is one of the biggest supporters of the Asphalt Championship, and has contested the series pretty much every year since 1998, with the outbreak of foot-and-mouth in 2001 and the series’ sabbatical in 2017 the only two years that he didn’t contest the Championship!
He has contested 105 rounds of the series in his self-built and self-financed rear-wheel drive Astra. Together with co-driver Keith Barker, Geoff finished runner-up in class B11 in both 2018 and 2019, beating many more powerful Mk2 Escorts.
Geoff is currently preparing the RWD Astra for the 2020 season and its 106th Asphalt Championship outing, which will be on the opening Legend Fires North West Stages on 20/21 March.
