Garstang gears up for rally spectacular

Garstang town centre will not only host the ceremonial start of this year’s Legend Fires North West Stages on the night on Friday 20 March, but it will also stage the ceremonial finish on Saturday 21 March.

Last year over 4,000 local residents and rally fans turned Garstang’s High Street into the UK’s biggest rally party, as they welcomed competitors to the start of the first closed road stage rally in Lancashire. It was great for local businesses too – so much so that the local fish and chip shop ran out of potatoes!

This year the event will be a fitting and spectacular start to the 2020 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship, as the Legend Fires North West Stages hosts a round of Britain’s premier sealed-surface series for the first time.

Organised by Motorsport North West and based at Myerscough College near Preston in Lancashire, next month’s event will run exclusively on closed roads, with 14 stages totalling around 60 stage miles over some classic Lancashire lanes. The event has received a very large entry, ensuring a capacity and high-quality turnout.

  1. Liverpool Motor Club is looking forward to helping marshal the event once again this year.
Let’s hope the weather is kind to all those taking part, and of course, all those coming along to spectate.
    Stay safe everyone!
