Father and son return in Renault Clio V6

Tim Waters is returning to the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship this year in his rapid Renault Clio V6.

The 57-year old Maidenhead driver finished runner-up in class B13 in 2018, securing the position by finishing second in class on the final round of the series, the Ford Parts Cheviot Stages Rally.

Earlier in the same year, Tim fulfilled a lifetime ambition to rally on the Isle of Man, scoring a class victory on the Manx National.

2018 was a mementos season for many reasons, as it marked Tim’s return to rallying after a 17 year break – plus he was co-driven by his son Jack, who was embarking on his first season in rallying. After that “baptism of fire” 25-year old Jack will navigate for his father again this year.

“Since buying the Renault Clio in 2018 we have changed almost every component, developing the car to make it go, turn, stop and not throw us into the scenery,” says Tim. “The car is pretty rare, so finding bits on eBay is a constant pastime!”
