Seb Marshall unveiled as first live streaming special guest commentator

World Rally Championship co-driver Seb Marshall will be the first special guest live streaming commentator on the opening round of the 2020 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship, when he joins the Special Stage TV production team on the Legend Fires North West Stages.

The 31-year old brings a vast amount of experience to the live broadcast crew, having co-driven for WRC star drivers Hayden Paddon (Hyundai Motorsport) and Kris Meeke (Toyota Gazoo Racing) in recent years.

Having Seb join another legendary co-driver turned Asphalt Rally Championship anchorman Howard Davies on the live streaming service is a real coup for the series, as he’s in high demand behind the microphone – and will be coming to the North West Stages straight from working with WRC TV at Rally Mexico!

Seb is the first of an exciting line-up of guest commentators that the Asphalt Rally Championship has planned for 2020 – with the names of each guest announced before each round.

Almost one million viewers have watched the live web-streaming coverage of the Asphalt Rally Championship on Facebook over the last two years, with a total of 458,000 tuning in for the 2018 season and 479,800 in 2019 – making it by far the largest on-line audience of any British national rally championship.

Seb will be in Garstang for the ceremonial start on the night of Friday 20 March, before heading out to some carefully selected stage-side positions during the running of the event the following day. He’s already had a good look over all of the 14 closed road stages, having done a spectator guide for the event organisers, Motorsport North West.

“I’m looking forward to joining Howard [Davies] and the Special Stage team for the North West Stages,” said Seb. “The event has developed from a blast around Blackpool Promenade and some military roads to a really challenging closed road event. The stages are really good, and vary from quite technical narrow sections to some very quick sections. It will be a good test for the crews and a fitting start to the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship.

“I’ll certainly have a lot to commentate on, as the event has received a fantastic entry. There will be a very strong top twenty and real depth of quality right the way through the classes, and I’m really looking forward to watching the action unfold from the side of the stages.”
