Paul and Julian Doroszczuk will be aiming to make a class winning start to their 2022 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship campaign when they contest this weekend’s Beatson’s Building Supplies Jim Clark Rally (27/28 May).
The 2018 class B11 champions have rebuilt the gearbox and axle on their immaculate Drockspeed Motorsport Escort Mk2 ahead of the event, as well as upgrading the brakes and opting for a harder suspension set-up.
Work commitments prevented them from contesting the opening round of the series, the Nigel Ferguson Fabricators Tour of Epynt, but now the brothers are back and are ready to go in their flying normally-aspirated Cosworth-engined Ford.
“We’re looking forward to the Jim Clark as it contains some of our favourite stages anywhere and the atmosphere is electric,” says Julian.
“We did the event in 2019, which was the year of significant ice on all stages due to the November date.
“Despite a cautious approach we finished second in the two-litre class, so with better weather with the shift back to the normal date we can hopefully go one better and get our Protyre Asphalt Championship off to a winning start.”
