Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship leader Jason Pritchard say that he’ll probably drive his Ford Fiesta S2000 on the next round of the series, the Woodstoxx – Motul Rally van Wervik on 15 June.
The reigning champion has won all three rounds of the 2019 series so far in his North Road Garage-backed Ford Focus WRC05 and has a perfect 90 points score.
But after his latest win on the double-header Masterpixel Media Manx National Rally, Pritchard says that he might give the Focus a rest and take the Fiesta to Belgium. He and co-driver Phil Clarke contested two rounds of the Championship last year in the S2000, finishing third on the Tour of Epynt and retiring with clutch problems in Wervik.
“I doubt we’ll take the Focus WRC to Wervik – it will probably be the Fiesta S2000,” says Pritchard. “If the Fiesta is done and ready, and it’s not at the moment, we will take it to Belgium. It’s certainly the car I’d like to take back over there again, and we can give the Focus a bit of a rest!
“The Fiesta S2000 won’t beat a world car over there, but you don’t have to win every round of a championship to win the title. You have to be consistently picking points up, and I feel we can still get a decent result over in Belgium in the S2000. Our aim will be a top five finish, and I think that’s possible out there.
“Wervik was a great event last year, but unfortunately we had an issue with the clutch. I’m looking forward to doing it again, as it’s nice to go somewhere different, and hopefully we can get to the finish this time. We’ve had the perfect start to the Championship, so we just need to keep picking points up now.”
Entries are now OPEN for the Rally van Wervik, and Regulations and Forms can be found here.
