Entries open today for the final round of the 2019 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship, the Ford Parts Cheviot Stages Rally, which takes place on the Otterburn military ranges in Northumberland on Sunday 22 September.
Jointly organised by Whickham and District Motor Club and Hadrian Motor Sports Club, the event will contain 13 stages totalling approximately 60 miles.
Last year, Jason Pritchard/Phil Clarke (Ford Focus WRC) scored maximum points on the event to clinch the Asphalt title – and it’s likely that the battle for the overall title, and many of the class trophies, will once again go down to the final round.
Last October’s event was hit by an unexpected wintry spell, with heavy showers of rain and sleet making conditions very difficult. As this year’s Cheviot Stages Rally takes place a full month earlier, there is every chance that the weather will be significantly better in September.
