Jason Pritchard picked up his second BTRDA Gold Star at the British Trial & Rally Driver Association’s annual awards lunch at Drayton Manor on Sunday.
The Builth Wells ace secured back-to-back Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship titles by the smallest of margins last year, beating arch rival Damian Cole to the trophy by just one point after a thrilling final round on the Ford Parts Cheviot Stages Rally on Otterburn.
Jason had scored maximum points after winning the opening three rounds of last year’s series, before retiring on Round 4 and missing Round 5 owing to the birth of his son. Having slipped to fifth in the points table, he and co-driver Phil Clarke (who also collects his second Gold Star) fought back – driving brilliantly to overcome a few performances niggles in their North Road Garage-backed Ford Focus WRC05 to win the title for a second time in a row.
BTRDA President Mike Broad presented Jason with his Gold Star.
