While the brakes are on all motorsport activities in the UK, we thought we’d remind you of one of the great event-by-event Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship incentives – supplied by our friends at Mintex.
The Mintex Award goes to the driver who has achieved the best improvement on seeding, and is presented to the registered competitor who finished the most places up from their start order position. Up for grabs at each event is an axle set of Mintex brake pads to suit the calliper used on the winning car.
Last year, Geoff Glover (Astra RWD) and Adrian Drury (Peugeot 106 GTi) both won the award twice, while the other worthy recipients were Williams Mains (Vauxhall Nova), Mike Pugsley (Escort Mk1 RS2000) and John Devlin (Escort Mk2).
There is also the Mintex Junior Award, where all the names of the under 25-year old drivers go into a hat and the winner, drawn at random, receives a £500 voucher to spend on any Mintex brake product.
