Stepney targets class hat-trick on the Down Rally

Jonathan Stepney will have his sights firmly set on a hat-trick of class B12 wins tomorrow, when he contests the Carryduff Forklift Down Rally in his 1.9-litre engined Griffiths/Gavin Griffiths Group-backed Peugeot 205 GTi.

As a teenager, Jonathan represented Wales at Olympic Skeet shooting at the mini Commonwealth Games in Gibraltar, before turning his attention to rallying.

His rapid-fire performances in his Peugeot has already seen him win the class B12 category twice in two starts this year – on the Nigel Ferguson Fabricators Tour of Epynt and the Beatson’s Building Supplies Jim Clark Rally – and he’ll be aiming to extend his class lead this time out.

The talented Perth-based Welshman will be co-driven by his stepfather and experienced navigator Aled Davies.
