It seems that the only way is Essex if you want to practice for the Isle of Man, as a number of Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship crews are heading to Clacton to get a bit of closed-road practice in ahead of the double header Manx National Rally on 12/13 May.
Protyre Asphalt crews contesting the non-championship Corbeau Seats Rally Tendring & Clacton on 22/23 April include Neil Roskell/Andrew Roughead, who are seeded at number 2 in their ND Civils/Burdens/Witham Motorsport Ford Fiesta Rally2.
Hugh Hunter/Rob Fagg are also heading east in their RSH Tarmac Ford Fiesta Rally2, as are Simon Bowen/Craig Simkiss (Ford Fiesta S2000T), Mark Jasper/Don Whyatt (Metro 6R4), Mark Holmes/Mark Perryman (Metro 6R4), Oliver Davies/Jack Bowen (Howells Motorsport/Adam Hewitt Agri Plant and Salvage Sales Ford Escort Mk2), Gareth Bevan/Dafydd Evans (Ford Escort RS1800 Mk2), Mike English/Simon Hunter (Proact IT UK/Autowrap Manchester/Kwiktrak Ford Fiesta Rally2), Anthony Allery/Bonnie Papper (Salter Demolition Ford Escort RS), Lewis Gatt/Callum Young (The Frog and Nightgown Ford Escort Mk2), Stephen Harvey/Andy Falconer (Telematic Solutions Subaru Impreza) and Sam Cox/Paul Brown (Spraytech Aylesbury Renault Clio Cup 3).
Meanwhile registered co-drivers on the starting list include Mark Glennerster (co-driving for Mick O’Brien), Ian Taylor (co-driving for Tony Rees) and Ian Jones (co-driving for Huw James).
Good luck to them all!
