Aled Wyn Morgans will contest the Motorsport UK Protyre Asphalt Rally Championship for the first time this year, driving a KGP-powered 2.5-litre Ford Escort Mk2.
The Aberystwyth driver won the AWMMC Heart of England Championship in the car in 2022 and finished 34th overall on last year’s JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion.
“Single venues have been an ideal starting point and great fun,” Morgans told Motorsport News.
“But the Protyre Asphalt Championship is the pinnacle of national asphalt rallying and I want to challenge myself and my team against the UK’s best crews.
“Closed roads are exciting on a whole new level and the balance of events throughout the season makes it a great place to learn.”
Morgans will be co-driven by Ian Taylor, who sat in for the Fastnet Rally last October.
“We clicked straightaway, and Ian is a great fit-in with the general team ‘craic’,” added Morgans.
