The Ford Transit Custom Nugget camper van made its Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship debut on the recent Nigel Ferguson Fabricators Tour of Epynt with Paul Morris and his fiancée Donna Preston giving it a resounding thumbs up for a perfect self-contained and versatile weekend getaway.
Very kindly lent to the championship co-ordinator by Hills Ford, the flexible new 2-litre diesel (which also comes as a plug-in hybrid, PHEV) Transit Custom Nugget kept Paul and Donna in mobile luxury as they meandered effortlessly from campsite to rally service area and back.
And when accommodation during rally weekends is often hard to find, the remastered staycation explorer is clearly a godsend.
The Nugget seats five, sleeps four and features an integrated hob and sink unit, two gas burners, a kitchen layout with 20% more worktop space, a 33-litre drawer fridge, a hot and cold 33-litre water function and some truly genius storage solutions.
The next-generation Ford Transit Custom Nugget camper van is available in late 2024 – but right now Hills Ford is offering a ‘Try Before You Buy’ scheme on these vehicles, while its sister company Brookhire is offering them for short / long term rentals.
