Having won pretty much everything he can in his Vauxhall Nova, Will Mains is out for some fun this year as he contests selected rounds of the 2025 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship, starting with this Sunday’s opening East Riding Stages, in his ‘little screamer’.
The Llandysul ace has won the Protyre Asphalt 1400cc class title three times, the Welsh Tarmacadam Championship three times, the King of Epynt three times and last year won the BRC National title outright.
His giant-killing performances are legendary – often winning his class by minutes rather than seconds and finishing 11th in the overall Protyre Asphalt driver standings in 2022.
Will has been seeded at car number 162 for this weekend’s event – and hopes to be allowed to start further up the running order to give him a fighting chance of another great result.
And co-driving for Will in Yorkshire will be Emma Clarke – daughter of triple Protyre Asphalt champion Phil Clarke (who is contesting the event with Jason Pritchard).
“We’ve achieved all our goals and more with the Nova, so this year it’s a case of going out and enjoying ourselves,” says Will.
“It’s great fun driving the Nova and people seem to enjoy watching the little screamer go – so we’re hoping to have a good year and a lot of fun.”
