New crews join the Protyre Asphalt Rally Championship ahead of the Jim Clark

With registration for the 2025 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship not closing until the end of signing-on for the Dunoon Presents Argyll Rally (Round 4) on Friday 20 June, competitors are taking advantage of the chance to score BTRDA sealed-surface points and challenge for titles.

And with the best five scores from seven rounds counting towards the final points tally, there is nothing lost for those who have registered ahead of today’s Borders Competitions Jim Clark Rally.

Two crews who have taken advantage are James Lightfoot/Ula Budzynska and Megan O’Kane/Nikki Addison.

Carlisle-based James won the BRC4 title last year in driving a Fiesta R2T and together with his Polish co-driver has swapped to a Peugeot 208 Rally4 this year.

Megan, from Kyle of Lochalsh, is a former Scottish Junior rally champion, while Nikki (from Inverness) drove an Electric Center-backed Honda Civic Type-R to last year’s Protyre Asphalt Ladies’ Challenge title. They’ll now be scoring BTRDA points together in their Kennedy Accountancy Fiesta R2.

The Borders Competitions Jim Clark Rally starts tonight – with live and free coverage from SS1 (18:11) and SS4 (20:48) on the Special Stage Facebook and YouTube pages.
