The Manx National Rally has won the prestigious 2025 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship ‘Rally of the Year’ Award. Voted for by competitors, it’s the third time in a row that Manx Auto Sport – a club which was formed in 1962 – has taken the award back home to the Isle of Man.
The Manx National is one of the most popular rounds of the series, thanks to its iconic closed road stages, large number of stage miles, superb ferry and accommodation deals and exceptional organisation.
Demand for entries is always high, yet each year Manx Auto Sport has been able to increase both the number of starters and the number of guaranteed Protyre Asphalt places – meaning that all the registered competitors who want to challenge themselves on rally roads made famous by the likes of Ari Vatanen, Tony Pond and Colin McRae can do so.
The award has drawn praise from the Isle of Man Government as recognition of the quality of the rally.
Sarah Maltby, the political member within the Department of Enterprise who looks after motorsport, said: “It’s fantastic that the organisers have pulled this event together with all the volunteer marshals. It takes a huge amount of effort to put the events on, so I’m really pleased that their hard work has produced this result for them.”
Maltby added that motorsport, including the rally, is a very important part of the Isle of Man’s annual activity.
“We try to encourage lots of different events, and we’re pleased to try and support the Manx Rally. The variety of motorsport events on the island is a draw for visitors and brings competitors here. So of course, it is important for our visitor economy.
“I’d like to add my congratulations to the team at Manx Auto Sport on winning this award, because it definitely reflects on the dedication of everyone that is involved in the event.”
“We are thrilled to win this award again as the standard of rallies across the championship is very high,” added Manx Auto Sport’s Mark Ellison
“This is really an award for rallying on the Isle of Man in general and everyone who helped with the 2025 rally.”
The 2026 Manx National Rally takes place on 8/9 May and hosts Round 2 of the 2026 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship.
