Escort ace Bryn Jones wins ‘Best Protyre Asphalt Newcomer Award’

Bryn Jones was presented with the coveted Best Newcomer Award at the 2025 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship Awards, after enjoying a highly successful season in his W Jones & Son / Station Works Garage Ford Escort Mk2.

Having only contested three stage rallies before the start of the 2025 season, the former road rally ace’s results improved with every Protyre Asphalt round he did – ending with a season-best top 10 overall points finish on the Tour of Epynt.

Co-driven by Brian Jones, an unblemished podium Class E finish on all five rounds, finishing second twice and third three times, saw the Llanfyllin driver finish second in class.

Plus an excellent run on the index of performance-based Escort Challenge saw Bryn finish third in that category, having scored an impressive average of 24.8 points per round.

His immaculately prepared Escort also won the Dynamic Fluids Best Presented Car Award on the Dunoon Presents Argyll Rally.

The pièce de resistance came on the final round, when a great run on Epynt saw Bryn take home 10th place overall points and move him from 17th to ninth in the overall drivers’ standings.

“From competing in our first closed road event on pace notes at the Manx to the final round on Epynt, our first attempt at the Protyre Asphalt Championship has been a huge learning curve to say the least,” says Bryn.

“But the fun we’ve all had as a small team, inside and outside the car, has been an amazing experience.

“We can’t wait for the 2026 season to start already!”
