The R Kings Down Rally, organised by Rathfriland Motor Club, has won the 2026 Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship ‘Rally of the Year’ Award, as voted for by competitors.
All seven events in the BTRDA series attracted strong support in the vote, reflecting the high standard of organisation across the championship.
The Hills Ford Stages finished second in the voting, with the Manx National Rally third.
“Everyone made us feel so welcome on this year’s Down Rally, and nothing was too much trouble for the event organisers and marshals,” said the newly crowned four-time Protyre Asphalt champion Jason Pritchard.
“The location was fantastic. The organisers really took the rally to the people. It was fantastic to see people who’d just popped to the shops stopping and having a look around the rally cars.
“The stages and organisation were first class. I can’t thank them enough for one of the most enjoyable weekends of motorsport I’ve had in years.”
The award will be presented at the 2026 Protyre Asphalt Rally Championship Gala Dinner & Awards Night at the Drayton Manor Hotel on Saturday 7 November.
