Jason Pritchard has scored maximum Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship points after a stunning performance on the Dunoon Presents Argyll Rally (19-20 June) in his North Road Garage/Guttercrest Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.
Co-driven by Phil Clarke, the three-time champion had a nail-biting battle with Alex Vassallo/Chris Lees. Jason was behind the Wildwaters Seafood Ford Fiesta Rally2 crew at the overnight halt but took the Protyre Asphalt lead early on Saturday morning and extended it to 25 secs at the end of the 16 stage event – to score his first BTRDA sealed surface series win since the Manx National Rally last year.
There was an equally close battle for third.
Aled Wyn Morgans/Jack Bowen (Aberystwyth Motorsport Fiesta Rally2) secured the final podium by just 2 secs, helped by Brad Cole/Jamie Vaughan (Hydroline Solutions Fiesta Rally2) picking up a front left puncture on SS12.
It was a stunning performance by both Ford crews and their best result in their relatively new cars.
Huw James/Lewis Sim were the top placed 2WD finishers and take home a magnificent fifth place Protyre Asphalt overall finish. They were able to unleash the full potential of their A&D Tyres/Maxxis Fiat 131 Mirafiori, even on the often wet and slippery Cowal Peninsula stages.
A full report will follow in due course.
