Dai Roberts Memorial Trophy honours 2025 Protyre Asphalt Junior co-driver champion

A brand-new perpetual award, the Dai Roberts Memorial Trophy, will be presented by the BTRDA for the first time at next month’s Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship Gala Prizegiving and Awards Ceremony.

Named in honour of the greatly missed 2022 Protyre Asphalt Champion Dai Roberts, the inaugural trophy will be presented to the 2025 Protyre Asphalt Junior co-driving champion, Tommi Henderson.

Tommi had a fantastic season co-driving for his father Roger, achieving three category wins and one second-place finish in their distinctive DKMS We Delete Blood Cancer Ford Fiesta Rally2.

In addition to the trophy, Tommi will receive a special co-driver’s gift bag, courtesy of OnThePaceNote. This gift bag contains essential navigational kit, including items like a Fastime watch and a stage time book.

Looking ahead, OnThePaceNote has announced plans for the 2026 Protyre Asphalt Championship, with the winning Junior co-driver on each round receiving a £50 voucher, redeemable against OnThePaceNote Subjective Route Notes for rallies in Ireland and the UK.

“We wanted to create a new annual Protyre Asphalt award in honour of Dai and the Jaffa Fund,” said Craig Parry of OnThePaceNote.

“Presenting the Dai Roberts Memorial Trophy to the 2025 Junior champion felt the most appropriate thing to do for this inaugural year, and it’s something Dai would have very much approved of.

“We’re delighted to also be re-introducing our voucher prize system for the 2026 season to further support up-and-coming Protyre Asphalt Junior co-driving talent.”

The Protyre Asphalt Rally Championship Awards will be held at the Drayton Manor Hotel on Saturday 8 November.
